Horseshoe Cottage, our four-star, centrally heated, pet-friendly holiday cottage for two people, is beautifully situated on the edge of the quiet conservation village of Town Yetholm, in the lovely Bowmont Valley.
Lovingly restored, the cottage was originally a stable for three horses. The old farmyard, where horses were once shod, is now the cottage garden where you can enjoy a summer breakfast seated under the roses and clematis. When renovations were taking place, more than 100 horseshoes of varying sizes were found, hence the name of the cottage.
The front door - from which you can enjoy views across the Cheviot Hills - opens directly into a beamed open-plan living room with fully-equipped kitchen, dining table and comfortable seating. Leading off this room is a utility room with washing machine and drying area, perfect for coats and walking boots. There is also a separate wet room.
At the other end of the living room, climb the stairs to what was once the hayloft and is now a charming double bedroom with en-suite bathroom equipped with an antique roll-top bath in which to soak after those long walks. The king-size Victorian style bed and pretty windows make this room a delightful and romantic retreat.
Should you ever want to leave your romantic hideaway, you will find that Yetholm is one of those rare villages which has managed to keep its well-stocked village store, family-owned butcher, Post Office and thriving garage.
Add in a choice of two village pubs, both serving excellent food, and you have the perfect combination for a really special holiday.
All you have to do is relax, unwind, and soak up the tranquility of your idyllic surroundings.
