Horseshoe Cottage
Horseshoe Cottage, our 4-star centrally-heated holiday cottage retreat for two people, is beautifully situated on the edge of the quiet conservation village of Town Yetholm, looking directly onto the rolling hills and valleys of this lovely area.
Lovingly restored, Horseshoe Cottage was originally a stable for three horses. The old farmyard, where local horses were shod, is now the cottage garden where you can enjoy a summer breakfast seated under the roses and clematis. When renovations were taking place, more than 100 horseshoes of varying sizes were found, hence the name of the cottage.
The front door, with its views across the Scottish Borders hills, opens directly into a beamed open-plan living room, with fully-equipped kitchen, dining table and comfortable sofa. Leading off this room is a a utility room with washing machine and drying area, perfect for jackets and walking boots. There is also a separate wet room.
At the other end of the living area, climb the wooden stairs to what was once the hayloft and is now a charming double bedroom with ensuite bathroom and roll-top bath in which to soak after those long walks. The king-size sleigh bed and pretty windows make this room a delightful and romantic retreat.
Should you ever want to leave your hideaway, you will find that Town Yetholm is one of those rare villages that has managed to keep its well-stocked village shop, award-winning butcher, Post Office for sending those holiday postcards, and even a garage.
Add in a choice of two village pubs, both serving excellent food, or delicious meals delivered to your door by Suzie's Suppers (see Rates page for details), and you have the perfect combination for a really special holiday break.
All you have to do is relax, unwind, and soak up the calm and space of your lovely surroundings.
